Handwriting Support

The handwriting support programme is available to students who may have slow handwriting speed or whose handwriting is difficult to read. This may have been flagged from the EXACT screener on entry, by parents, their previous school, a diagnosis of hypermobility, previous assessments or by their teachers as they progress through the school.

The objective of the programme is not to form beautiful cursive script, but merely to produce legible writing so that students can communicate their knowledge effectively. The programme does not try to change pen grips, but instead works on strengthening the hand.

Students will attend a weekly workshop with the SDS Team but will accompany this with a weekly online workshop at home in order to practise. The face to face programme is 8 weeks long, however any student can take advantage of online practices via the links below.
